European Union (EU) lawmakers have ordered TikTok authorities to store data on Romania's presidential election.

Romania claims it has evidence of collusion with Moscow in the unusual victory of pro-Russian Calin Georgescu in the Romanian presidential election. However, Russia has denied the allegations.

In a statement released on Thursday (December 5), the European Union (EU) ordered TikTok to store all information related to the Romanian elections until further notice.

The order is said to be issued in the interest of investigating allegations of possible collusion.

In a statement, TikTok authorities said, 'We are waiting to know the truth against some false reports and allegations brought against us.

Social media was a big part of pro-Russian Calin Georgescu's election campaign. He chose social media to campaign, avoiding posters and television debates.

Videos that went viral on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and X have helped increase his support.
