 Time magazine's 2024 World Person of the Year will be announced next Thursday (December 12). Since 1927, they have been naming the person, group, or idea that has had the greatest impact on the world, for better or worse, over the previous 12 months. NBC's Today show revealed the names of the 10 nominees for Time's 2024 Personality of the Year on Monday morning. Below is the list of candidates according to their initials.

 

Kamala Harris

The night of July 21, President Joe Biden announced that he had ended his campaign for the presidential election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate. He criticized former President Donald Trump for his role in the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, focusing his campaign on reproductive rights. He also suggested that Trump is a threat to democracy. Harris was on the 2020 Person of the Year list along with Biden.

 Kate Middleton

Princess of Wales Kate Middleton was previously on Time's 100 Most Influential People list in 2013 and runner-up in 2011's Person of the Year list.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk occupies the top position in the list of innovators. From online payments to electric vehicles and commercial spaces, Tesla's CEO has upended the industry. Musk was previously named Time's 'Person of the Year' in 2021.

 Yulia Navalnaya

Russian economist Yulia Navalnaya has been called the "first lady" of the anti-Russian party. She is also on Time's list of 100 most influential people of 2024.

Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has emerged as one of the world's most influential and controversial leaders this year. He was on Time's 100 Most Influential People list in 2019.

 Jerome Powell

Jerome Powell has served as chairman of the US Federal Reserve since 2018, under the Trump and Biden administrations. As chairman, he is leading the economy, which voters have identified as the most important issue in the 2024 election.

Joe Rogan

Podcaster Joe Rogan was on Time's 100 Most Influential People list in 2022.

 Claudia Sheinbaum

Claudia Sheinbaum made history last October by becoming the first female president of Mexico. She was on Time's list of 100 climate experts this year.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump was unexpectedly elected President of the United States in 2024. Earlier in 2016, Trump was elected President of the United States and was named Time's Person of the Year in the same year.

 Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is the fourth richest person in the world. He was named Time's Person of the Year in 2010.
